Wolfhalden Museum

Lots of exhibits really bring the history of Wolfhalden to life.

In the heart of the village of Wolfhalden, right on the famous Witzwanderweg trail, a 17th-century semi-detached house invites visitors on a journey into the past. The museum impressively depicts the simple living conditions of earlier generations and focuses in particular on the lives of silk weavers and farmers. An old loom recalls the town's textile past. In the cellar, an impressive cider press is a reminder of the region's once flourishing fruit and wine growing industry.

The arbor leads to the historic kitchen and the former dining room “zur alten Krone” (to the old crown). In an adjoining room, an artistically painted wedding cabinet and a community flag testify to the artistic sensibilities of the population. Narrow wooden stairs lead to the upper floors with the “Vorbrugg,” chamber, and ridge chamber—simply furnished rooms that show the modest living conditions of the time.
