Saurer Museum
Experience what moves: history comes to life in the Saurer Museum - on wheels and in the finest stitches.
In the Saurer Museum, visitors can discover milestones from more than 150 years of technological history. Legendary postbuses, fire engines, military vehicles and the famous “Car alpin” tell of the pioneering spirit of the Saurer brand. The textile machinery section is a particular highlight: There you will find one of the oldest embroidery machines - the “Chlüpperlimaschine” from 1860 - as well as the automatic S1 from 1912, which uses a mechanical “computer” to produce beautiful embroidery. Weaving machines are also part of the collection.
The functional textile machines can be set in motion by appointment - a fascinating insight into precision and history.
On Mondays and on the first weekend of each month, information staff are present.
