Appenzeller Huus
The Appenzeller Huus is located in idyllic countryside and consists of three houses: the Huus Bären, the Huus Löwen, and the Huus Quell.
Dating back to 1602, Huus Bären 3* is the oldest building in Gonten and the origin of the Appenzeller Huus Resort. Following extensive renovation, it has been welcoming guests since 2020 in twelve rooms and suites designed in alpine Appenzeller chic. Two rooms for eight to ten people are available for inspiring meetings and workshops.
The Huus Löwen 4*, located directly opposite, combines tradition with modern design elements. Since summer 2023, it has been offering a unique accommodation for guests in 24 rooms and suites. The natural materials invite you to relax and spend a few moments in the picturesque Appenzell region. The light-flooded Löwensaal can host creative and productive events for up to 80 people.
Since fall 2025, Huus Quell 5* has promised relaxation at the highest level. The ultra-modern and sustainable new building, constructed from solid wood, is designed to be timelessly elegant. The 30 rooms and suites are decorated in an elegant Appenzell style with moon wood. The 2,200 m² wellness area offers special moments of relaxation.
All houses feature high-quality textiles from Jakob Schlaepfer: wallpaper, curtains, bed linen, and more create the ambience.
The team led by Executive Chef Carsten Kypke offers authentic, regionally inspired cuisine in a diverse range of rooms. Whether in the Bärenstobe, the Löwenstobe, on the sun terrace, in the Jakob Schlaepfer Lounge, or in the QUELL restaurant, where a wide-ranging sharing menu is available – this is a place to enjoy life.
